Additionally, the reports showed that despite competitors efforts to slow VIZIO’s growth by offering lower priced HDTVs, VIZIO still experienced Year-Over-Year growth in FPTV sales with an increase of 18%, selling 803,000 units, meeting VIZIO's projected sales goals.
“VIZIO in the second quarter maintained the No. 3 position in the North America flat-panel television market due to its increasing plasma shipments, particularly in the 32-inch size range,” said Riddhi Patel, principal analyst, television systems, for the market research firm, iSuppli Corp., El Segundo, Calif. “The company is likely to remain a top player in the flat-panel television business in the second half as the market’s focus shifts to 120Hz refresh rates for LCDs and pricing becomes an increasingly important factor.”
Furthermore, VIZIO plasma display panel (PDP) business experienced a year-over-year growth by 225%, selling 240,000 units, and ranking #2, overtaking Samsung with 25% market share. Specifically, VIZIO's highly popular 32" Plasma HDTV (model VP322) yielded 18% of the entire PDP category during the 2nd Quarter alone.

“VIZIO has had an outstanding impact in the plasma market. Their 32” and 42” models were outstanding performers proving that plasma TVs in mid-sizes can be a growth area for the technology. In fact their VP322 alone represented 18% of the category in Q2,” stated Tamaryn Pratt of Quixel Research. “Their recent announcement to grow into higher performance products with XVT products while maintaining their value pricing should reward the brand with additional market share while remaining in step with today’s economy.”
